Absolutely. Please purchase a ticket online prior to visiting the hotel. Our Aufguss sessions sell out quickly and we usually don’t sell tickets at the door.
The Hewing Hotel does not allow people under 21 years of age on the rooftop because there is a bar on the same floor. No exceptions.
To ensure optimal comfort and safety to our guests, space for these sessions is limited to 22 people.
Sorry, we don’t offer refunds! Because the space is limited and the demand is high (most sessions have waiting lists), we cannot offer refunds.
Preparation & Arrival
Wearing a bathing suit or a bikini is mandatory at all times in the sauna area on the rooftop. The bathing suit must offer sufficient coverage, for men as well as women.
The hewing hotel provides a towel and a locker. You should always bring your bathing suit and sandals. We also recommend to bring a reusable water bottle (water fountains are available on site) and a dry towel.
Please plan on arriving 15 minutes before the start of the session, to allow for preparations and to start on time.
Close to the hotel, you can find street parking available, as well as parking lots near the hotel. The Hewing Hotel also offers valet parking for $16 (price subject to change).
When you arrive at the Hewing Hotel, take the elevator up to the 6th floor and check in with your host in the rooftop lobby.
Sauna is a safe place for everyone. All guests will be held to the highest standards of respect, inclusiveness, and courtesy. The health benefits of sauna run in every direction. One’s personal mental health, comfort, and security are every bit as important as the tremendous physical benefits of sauna. Please always keep front of mind that you are in a shared environment, always aware, and always respectful of the feelings and boundaries of others.
The Aufguss Session
Please rinse/shower before using the sauna and/or pool. There is a shower in each locker room as well as an outdoor shower on the rooftop patio.
You can sit wherever you want inside of the sauna. Please be aware that it can get very hot on the top row during an Aufguss session, so if you’re not used to it, we recommend sitting on a lower level.
Once the Aufguss session has begun, simply relax and let Saunameister Alex guide you through the experience. Aufguss is a great opportunity to take some time for yourself and dive into a meditative state where you can feel your body and connect with yourself on a deeper level. Feel free to close your eyes, focus on your breath, and enjoy the moment.
We use organic essential oils only. Different scents are used for each session. Saunameister Alex’s favorite flavors include: lemon, orange, rosemary, lavender, pine tree, bergamot, eucalyptus and spearmint.
Try to change seats to a lower level or sit on the floor. The heat is most intense on the top row, and on the lower rows it is slightly cooler. If the heat is too intense for you, you can always leave the sauna.
You can bring non-alcoholic beverages in a reusable bottle (no glass bottles please).
Alcohol is not allowed in the sauna and we don’t recommend alcohol consumption prior to the Aufguss session.
The rooftop restaurant and bar menu is available until 11:30 pm. Feel free to eat and drink in the outside rooftop area, but please don’t bring any drinks or food into the sauna area, including the sauna itself.
After the Session
Absolutely, we highly recommend to cool down your body after each Aufguss session. Cold showers can be found in the locker rooms and in the outside area on the rooftop (not available in winter). We also might offer cold ice baths on the rooftop during the summer months.
Each event comes with 3 Aufguss sessions. Once an Aufguss session is finished, leave the sauna, go outside, breathe in some fresh air, and walk calmly for a few minutes. Then, take a cold shower and rest for a few minutes, sitting on a chair or laying on the floor. When you feel refreshed feel free to take another shower or spend some time in the pool, before entering the sauna for the next Aufguss session.
Please make sure to put away your towel in one of the used towel baskets.
Try to take it easy and enjoy the positive benefits of your Aufguss session. Drink as much as you want if you’re thirsty, eat a light snack, and go to bed early, to maintain the energy and positive effects as long as possible.
